Ingredients

Scale

For the Cookies:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For the Butter Glaze:

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Extra powdered sugar for dusting
  • A drizzle of melted white chocolate

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cookie Dough

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Step 2: Shape & Bake the Cookies

  1. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, form 1-inch dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Step 3: Prepare the Butter Glaze

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  2. While the cookies are still warm, brush or drizzle the glaze over each cookie.

Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Allow the glaze to set for 10-15 minutes before serving.
  2. Dust with extra powdered sugar or drizzle with melted white chocolate for extra indulgence.

Notes

  • Make Them Extra Buttery: Add ½ teaspoon of butter extract for a stronger butter flavor.
  • Crispy vs. Soft: Bake for 10 minutes for a softer texture or 12-14 minutes for a crispier edge.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Best Pairing: Enjoy with a hot cup of coffee, tea, or a glass of milk!
